Why Naturopathic Medicine?

Chronic Skin Problems

Doctor Davidson knows what it feels like to have a chronic problem that lingers for years.  She knows the frustration of wanting to know the cause of a health problem and not getting any answers or ideas from her health care provider.

A s a teenager, she suffered from a skin condition that caused haves and rashes on her face that increased in frequency over the next 10 years.  This made her dependent on antihistamines and steroids to prevent the rash from spreading.

Jennifer’s frustration with the skin ailment that had no answers in the more conventional medical is what brought her to naturopathic medicine.   She was forced to do research on her own and she eventually found out that if she could heal her gastrointestinal tract she could heal her skin.  After following what she now knows was a naturopathic treatment plan she has been hive free for 16 years.

An ugly skin condition leads to a change in life’s direction.

She realized that she wanted to help prevent the above situation from happening to anyone else. To help prevent years of suffering when there could be a simple solution.  That desire is what drove her to addend the National University of Natural Medicine to pursue her Doctorate in Naturopathic Medicine.

Fun Facts

Life Before Medicine

Before she went back to school to become a doctor, Jennifer was in the U.S. Air Force for 10 years as a security forces.  In those 10 years she had been deployed to Iraq, Saudi and Qatar, and has been stationed in Korea, Colorado and Louisiana.  She was also trained to provide security for unsecure  airfields in places like Iraq as a Phoenix Raven . Her Raven identifier is 1600.

Embracing Portland

After moving to Portland she has tried all of the city farming practices.  Her front lawn is now a garden,  she had chickens for a few years (Honey would sit on her lap to be petted) and had  a not so successful attempt at raising fish in an aquaponic system.

As a collector of hobbies she has learned to make her own soap, and can her own pickles ,  jam and and vegetables.

She has two geriatric cats, Sadie and Smeagle who have traveled cross country with her since her days in the Air Force.  One is a sweet old lady and the other is a little bit rotten!
