When You Need Lab Testing

Although you may not like getting your blood drawn, there are many simple and inexpensive lab tests that can be done to help verify your health status. This especially important as we age or if we have a familial predisposition for certain diseases like heart disease, or diabetes.  During your appointment with Dr. Davidson, she can order necessary lab testing through a company that is accepted by your insurance insurance company.

Specialty Testing Is also Available:

When You Want Lab Testing

Dr. Davidson is able to order testing that may not be covered by your insurance company.  This ability to order specialty comes in handy when you want a more in depth look at your food intolerances, the status of your gastrointestinal or cardiac health.  Sometimes this testing is necessary to find out that last puzzle piece that can help build the plan that get you feeling your best.

What Is Naturopathic Medicine?

Naturopathic medicine is an old system of health care that has been around for hundreds of years. It has grown and changed over time, integrating aspects from conventional, holistic and alternative fields of medicine, including evidence-based therapies.

This form of health-care strives to take into consideration the whole person, not just their symptoms. It acknowledges that to be truly healthy, the underlying cause of disease must be removed. It also supports the body’s innate drive to be healthy.

Therefore, Dr. Davidson will take a detailed client history along with ordering laboratory testing, imaging and perform physical exams as necessary in an effort to discover the root cause of illness so that it can be removed and health can be improved.  The doctor will use this information to determine which therapies will be most effective in reversing or modifying disease progression.  Therapies that will boost one’s natural immune system will also be considered.

The 6 Principles of Natropathic Medicine:

  1. The Healing Power of Nature (Vis Medicatrix Naturae): We recognize the bodies inherent self-healing process, and so act to uncover and remove obstacles to healing to help facilitate that process.
  2. Identify and Treat the Causes (Tolle Causam):We seek to identify and remove the true causes of illness rather than to merely eliminate or suppress symptoms.

  3. First Do No Harm (Primum Non Nocere):We aim to utilize medicinal substances that minimize harmful side effects and use the least force necessary to diagnose and treat while avoiding when possible the suppression of symptoms.

  4. Doctor as Teacher (Docere):We strive to educate our patients and encourage self-responsibility for health.

  5. Treat the Whole Person:We treat each patient by taking into account individual physical, mental, emotional, genetic, environmental, social, and other factors.

  6. Prevention:We emphasize the prevention of disease by making appropriate interventions in partnership with their patients to prevent illness.

NATUROPATHIC PRACTICE
This naturopathic practice includes the following diagnostic and therapeutic modalities: clinical and laboratory diagnostic testing, nutritional medicine, botanical medicine, public health measures, hygiene, counseling, minor surgery, homeopathy and prescription medication.

The American Association of Naturopathic Medicine (AANM)  explains naturopathic medicine as

“ a distinct primary health care profession, emphasizing prevention, treatment, and optimal health through the use of therapeutic methods and substances that encourage individuals’ inherent self-healing process.  The practice of naturopathic medicine includes modern and traditional, scientific, and empirical methods.”
